Holden Commodore VE (2006 - 2013)

The VE Commodore was one of Holden’s most ambitious engineering programmes because it moved the car onto the Australian-developed Zeta platform. Unlike earlier Commodores that traced more directly to Opel origins, the VE was designed with local requirements, export potential and modern crash standards in mind.

Its significance goes beyond one model range. The VE underpinned sedans, wagons, utes and HSV derivatives, and it showed that Australian manufacturing could still produce a globally credible rear-drive platform in the 2000s.
