Holden HQ Monaro GTS (1977 - 1974)

The HQ Monaro GTS carried Holden’s performance coupe identity into the smoother, larger HQ generation. Compared with the earlier HK-HG Monaros, the HQ shape was more flowing and mature, but the GTS badge still signalled V8 power, sports trim and a direct link to Holden’s muscle-car reputation.

The model’s place in history is tied to both style and transition. It arrived as insurance, fuel and regulatory pressures were changing the performance market, so it stands near the end of the first great Monaro performance era.
