Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing (1954 - 1963)

The 300SL Gullwing was born from Mercedes-Benz’s post-war racing programme and became one of the most advanced road cars of the 1950s. Its tubular spaceframe required the famous roof-hinged doors, while mechanical fuel injection gave the straight-six remarkable performance for the period.

Its importance is immense: it blended racing engineering, luxury and sculptural design in a way that helped re-establish Mercedes as a maker of world-class performance cars. The Gullwing remains one of the most collectible and technically significant classics ever built.
