The Porsche 959 was one of the most technologically advanced road cars of the 1980s. Developed with Group B thinking in the background, it used twin turbocharging, sophisticated all-wheel drive, adjustable suspension and advanced materials to push the 911 concept into the future.

Its importance is that it forecast the direction of modern supercars. The 959 combined extreme speed with electronics and traction systems, influencing later Porsche Turbos and proving that technology could make a very fast car more usable rather than less involving.
