Dodge Monaco Police Car (1974 - 1977)

The Dodge Monaco became a familiar presence in 1970s American policing, taxi fleets and full-size family motoring. Large, square-shouldered and body-on-frame, it represented the traditional American sedan at a time when fuel prices and emissions rules were beginning to change the market.

Its later cult status owes much to film and television, especially the battered police-car image associated with The Blues Brothers era. The Monaco’s appeal now comes from its honesty: it is a big, durable, workhorse sedan from the final years of Detroit’s old full-size formula.
