Holden Commodore VN (1988 - 1997)

The VN Commodore was a major reset for Holden. It grew wider than the VL, adopted new styling and introduced the Buick-derived V6 that would become a staple of Australian roads. The car helped Holden regain strength in the large-car market at a crucial time.

Its legacy is broad rather than narrow. The VN was a family car, taxi, fleet vehicle, police car and performance platform, and it formed the basis for later VP, VR and VS developments. It represents the Commodore returning to a more confident, full-sized Australian character.
