Jaguar E-Type (1965 - 1975)

The Jaguar E-Type became famous instantly because it combined extraordinary beauty with genuine high performance at a price far below many exotic rivals. Its long bonnet, covered headlights and independent rear suspension made it one of the most advanced and desirable sports cars of the 1960s.

The E-Type’s importance is both design and engineering. It drew from Jaguar’s Le Mans-winning D-Type experience, yet it was civilised enough for road use. Few cars have shaped public ideas of what a sports car should look like as strongly as the E-Type.
